Using the EO.Webbrowser inside a third-party application doesn't start the Flash Plugin when running on Citrix server.

Using the same application with the same EO.Webbrowser version on a Windows 7 / 8.1 / 10 client, Flash works as expected.

A full-blown Chrome installation running in the same Citrix session as the EO.Webbrowser application provides full Flash functionality.

Our application uses EO.Webbrowser to connect to a web site that provides some sort of chat functionality. After the page loads, it requests the user's permission to enable the flash plugin. If the user right-clicks and selects "Run this plugin", the site still displays the jigsaw icon. The user can repeat this action as often as they want without actually enabling the flash plugin.

Of course, we have installed the Flash System plugin on the Cittrix Server. Using EO.Webbroser to display the about:config URL shows that Flash: 21,0,0,242 is loaded.

I'll try to add some screenshots, if that is considered helpfull (and if I find out how to do so, I'm still searching for a way to either paste or upload an image).

Thanks for any support you can give!

Patrick

BTW, the Citrix server we're running on is XenDesktop 7.8 on Windows Server 2008R2 x64

Hi,

Please try the following:

1. Switch to the latest build;
2. Set your ApplicationID for automatic crash report:

http://www.essentialobjects.com/doc/common/crash_report.aspx

We do not know what can cause this problem, but this appears to be that the Flash plug-in process has crashed. Following the above steps will allow us to collect the crash report (or if you prefer, you can collect it manually and send it to us) and that may provide some additional information to us for this issue.

If you manually send crash report, you can find our email address here:

http://www.essentialobjects.com/forum/test_project.aspx

Thanks!

Unfortunately I'm only the user of this application, not the developer. Anything that needs to be done by those who have access to the source control can't be done by me...

So if you don't have any idea what I can do without creating crash reports or switching to to the latest build, I'll have to open a case with the manufacturer of our application and ask them to provide me with the neccessary tools or debug builds.

Thanks,

Patrick

Yes. You should definitely go through the developer of your application for such issues. We actually do not support end users of our customers directly --- we have thousands of customers and each one them can have thousands of customers, very often based on a single license they purchased from us. So it is neither fair nor doable for us to support their end customers.

I do fully understand this. I'll address further problems to the manufacturer.

Meanwhile, I've fixed the problem myself: The manufacturer of this application has provided an update that uses a newer version of EO.webbrowser, which also means a newer version of Chromium. This newer version now obviously requires the PP-type flash plugin, where the older one worked with the NP-type. Once I installed the PP system plugin, the flash content started to work again.
