I'm seeing a lot of bizarre issues with the spell checker. In the screen grab example you will notice that the name is not highlighted correctly. It also does not highlight the first problem that it finds. In this case, it wanted tried to suggest alternatives for the name Maximillian found earlier in the text, but did not highlight it. When I told it to Ignore, it then went to the next entry that you see in the graphic example. I've also seen it highlight parts of two adjacent words, only one of which is the one it wants you to check.

Are you aware of this problem, or has it been addressed in subsequent updates? I'm using version: 9.0.15.2.

Thanks.

Hi,

You will want to update to the latest build. We have changed a few things about this recently, particular for Chrome browser.

Thanks!

Just some feedback to let you know that upgrading to 2012 did not solve the problem. I'm still seeing buggy results with the Spell Checker in IE9, particularly when checking a long bit of text that's been copied from the clipboard. I've also tested it in Chrome, FireFox and Safari, but these it seems to work just fine with these browsers.

Has anyone else reported this problem in IE9? The spell checker seems to loose its index pointer when it finds something suspicious, and highlights the wrong text.

Any suggestions on how to handle this?

Thanks.

Hi,

The previous update was specifically for Chrome browser. If you are seeing problem for IE 9, please try to provide a minimum test case (the HTML code in the editor) and we will see what we can find.

Thanks!

Okay, please copy the text below into your Spell Checker/Editor demo using IE9. When you run the spell checker you'll see that its highlighting gets off a few characters as you progress through the list, or it doesn't highlight anything (I've seen it behave differently on two different IE9s). In the graphic example, you see that it's trying to highlight Neches.

I only see this behavior in IE9. All other browsers I've tested work fine including IE8.

Copy this text into your Spell Checker/Editor demo

Quote:

Marion Meredith tapped the edge of the ragged map spread across the table. "I got it from my neighbor before he died." He glanced up at the grizzled looking man known only as Clawson. The two huddled in a dark corner of a rustic diner near Port Arthur, Texas on a warm evening in the early 1920s.

"It came from an old Mexican woman who was eager to be rid of it," Meredith added. "Her uncle got it from one of the Jean (John) Lafitte's men before the Civil War." He watched Clawson's eyes brighten as the older man inspected the chart. "They say it dates back to the early 1800's."

"Could be." Clawson stroked his sandy-gray beard as he nodded. "Could be from 'bout 1814 when a navy flotilla routed them pirates at Barataria Bay. Could be one of them schooners escaped. Made it back in here." He traced an arc on the map to outline a section of the Sabine Lake just off the Gulf.

"That puts it at just over a hundred years old," Meredith replied. "But the old woman said it was the Spaniards that chased Lafitte's ship into those bayous. Said the ship anchored here, at the mouth of the Neches River. Two crewmen carried the treasure into the marshes and buried it." Meredith lowered his head and voice. "She said they carved a heart into a nearby tree to mark the spot then cut anchor and hurried from the harbor."

Clawson matched Meredith's tone. "Might be able to find that anchor. Them marshes can get pretty dry this time of year." He grinned and leaned back.

Meredith smiled as he squeezed his palms. That's exactly what he wanted to hear. That's why he'd sought this crusty old dog. He'd heard Clawson had grown up around these marshes and knew them better than anyone. But Meredith's excitement waned as he considered the rest of the story, wondering how the old man would react. He cleared his throat.
