Can't Format Date in GRID to display Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri.... Options

Problem formatting date in Grid, I need to show 3-character weekday name i.e. Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun.
I tried this data format{0:ddd MMM dd yyyy} but it is displaying the Month name for example, for 9/11/2011 instead of Sun Sep 11 2011 it shows January Sep 11 2011
