Hello,

We have a requirement to be able to function with FIPS enforcement enabled. However, after enabling it (see end of http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811833 how to enable it and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911722 how to make ASP.NET work after enabling) EO.Web controls stop working with error message "License file 'C:\inetpub\Trunk\bin\eo_web.licx' is invalid."

Here's the stack trace:
[Exception: License file 'C:\inetpub\Trunk\bin\eo_web.licx' is invalid.]
EO.Web.Internal.gz.e() +206
EO.Web.Internal.gz.b() +5
EO.Web.Internal.j3.a(IComponent A_0, Type A_1, String A_2) +195
EO.Web.Internal.bx.ah() +71
EO.Web.Internal.bx.j(HtmlTextWriter A_0) +104
EO.Web.WebControlBase.n(HtmlTextWriter A_0) +42
EO.Web.WebControlBase.Render(HtmlTextWriter writer) +140
System.Web.UI.Control.RenderControlInternal(HtmlTextWriter writer, ControlAdapter adapter) +27
System.Web.UI.Control.RenderControl(HtmlTextWriter writer, ControlAdapter adapter) +99
System.Web.UI.Control.RenderControl(HtmlTextWriter writer) +25
System.Web.UI.Control.RenderChildrenInternal(HtmlTextWriter writer, ICollection children) +134
System.Web.UI.Control.RenderChildren(HtmlTextWriter writer) +19
System.Web.UI.Control.Render(HtmlTextWriter writer) +10
System.Web.UI.Control.RenderControlInternal(HtmlTextWriter writer, ControlAdapter adapter) +27
System.Web.UI.Control.RenderControl(HtmlTextWriter writer, ControlAdapter adapter) +99
System.Web.UI.Control.RenderControl(HtmlTextWriter writer) +25
System.Web.UI.Control.RenderChildrenInternal(HtmlTextWriter writer, ICollection children) +134
System.Web.UI.Control.RenderChildren(HtmlTextWriter writer) +19
System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl.RenderContents(HtmlTextWriter writer) +10
<...>

Can this be solved by changing configuration? If not, can we expect it to be fixed?

Thanks,
Laurynas

Hi,

This can not be changed by configuration. The algorithm we use to encrypt our license file is not FIPS compliant. As a result, we will have to change our license file format in order to support this, however we can not change license file format in the middle of a release. So the earliest this can be addressed will be next release.

Thanks!

When are you planning the next release of EO.Web?

It's usually at mid year. However it's not carved in stone yet.
