It seems there's no client side way to disable the DatePicker. I am trying to hack it using Javascript. I can disable the input element. I can't find a way to disable the img element so that nothing happens when a user clicks on the image.

How can I disable the img element so the click doesn't do anything?

I appreciate in the future adding a capability to disable the datepicker in the client side.

Thanks. However what's the workaround I can use now? When is the new build coming out?

I don't see an announcement for a new build. Has it been released?

Hi,

Yes. It was posted a while ago. We post new builds quite often, but we do not post announcement for every build because user may get annoyed when they receive our update notice too often. Instead we only post an announcement every since a while with an accumulated change list.

Thanks!

Where are you posting these announcements? The last one in the announcement forum was on 5/11/2010. That's hardly too often.

Hi,

We have been posting announcements in the "General Discussion" forum and posting links to these posts in our facebook page. If you use facebook, then you can follow our facebook page and that should keep you updated. We will be posting an update in the Announcement forum this week that serves as a "lump sum" of all the previous updates. However we may limit only significant or major releases to "Announcement" forum in the future.

In any case if you wish to know whether we have an update or not, check our download page. We always display the current version number on our download page. That can be updated very frequently, sometimes as often as in a few days, so we do not send out any notifications for that at all.

Thanks!

I subscribe to the announcement forum through RSS and that's a very good way to only get notified when there's a new release. Subscribing to the General Discussion forum means I will be bombarded with every discussion when I am only interested in new releases.

Keeping checking on a regular basis the download page, Facebook page or discussion forum just to see if there's a new version doesn't seem efficient. Also the download page just has the build version. No release date. This means I have to remember my current version (Right now I don't!) and mentally compare the site version and decide if mine is older.

I would rather be notified only when a new release is out else everything else is quiet for me. Like a desktop app which checks for updates in the background and I get a notice only when an update is present. Like to see something similar for your product.

I don't mind getting notified once a week if it means I will get a bug fix for a bug that's affecting us negatively.

I wanted to make a point from a usability standpoint.

Hi,

We understand. But we also have a lot other users who DO NOT want to receive notifications that often. So please keep in mind that while we value your feedback very much sometimes it is not possible to have one size that fits all. In your case, if you wish to be frequently updated, you can either check our download page or follow our facebook page. We will not post in the announcement forum that often because that will annoy a lot other users who either always care less about updates or care less about updates at the moment.

A desktop app can be a good solution for this, so we might look into that in our future release. However in case you are waiting for a bug fix or an acknowledged new feature request like this one, try always check the download page because that will always be the first place to be updated. We usually post follow up post on bug report but we do not follow up on new feature request.

Thanks

What's the client side method name to disable the dialog? I couldn't find it in the docs.

Hi,

There is none. The original topic is for disabling DatePicker, that one has been added. There will not be a function to disable a dialog on the client side because disabling a dialog must disable all controls inside the dialog --- that will depends on what you put in the dialog.

Thanks

I don't know why I was thinking about the dialog control! I see the one for the DatePicker. Thanks.
