May sound like a silly question, but it seems if I can only create one Redist Key using mydomain.com, then how can I move web sites to other domains?

Hi,

You can create as many redistribute key as you like. You would just click "Clear Host" and then enter a new host name.

You can also leave the host name empty and the result license file will work everywhere --- you should exercise caution when you redistribute such a license file though.

Thanks!

So if I'm understanding this correctly. A license file in the name of mydomain.com would prohibit your controls from working on joesdomain.com???

Q. Is there any specific code I need other than placing the license file in the same directory (/bin) as the EO.Web.dll

If only you choose so. The default license file has no such restriction. However if you wish to redistribute your product to another party that you have no control over with, then you may not want to give them the default license file which works everywhere. Instead you can give them a license file that will only work for their domain. The reason for that is if you give them the "universal" license file and they publicly disclose it, (for example, to post on the Internet either intentionally or accidentally so that everybody can do a Google search and download it), then we will have no option but to revoke your license. For that reason our license term explicitly require you to take reasonable precaution to prevent the license file being reused by a third party.

To sum it up: You have paid for one license, but from that single license you can generate multiple license files. When you generate license file, you have the option to restrict or not to restrict the host.

Again, only if you choose to. You can set the license file EITHER by the license file OR by code. You do not need to do both.

Understood, I develop software and understand the need to protect against license piracy. I think you have a good policy for develper licensing and redistribution. I've asked many questions because I always look before I leap, another good policy. Keep up the good work on the controls. Thanks again.... cheers....
