My license is for the 2007.1 web controls. Compatibility with firefox has been very dissapointing, now it looks like IE8 is having many display issues. Does the most recent update of 2007.1 address these issues and can I get a download link for it?

I made my purchase on 5/15/07. If the newest 2007.1 doesn't work, can I get upgrade to the current version as of 5/15/08 (2007.2?)? Would that fix the issue?

I don't need new controls, I have an app written with your controls just last year that is broken on new browsers and no way to fix it without paying $100's more just to update controls. I am hoping I can get a newer download that will address the cross browser compatibility problems.

Having said all that, the controls themselves have been great other than browser compatibility which I am betting have been addressed already.

Thanks,

Ray

Hi Ray,

You definitely can get the latest 2007.2 without new controls for free. We will see if we can get you 2008 without new controls for free too.

A few things to clarify:

1. We do not officially support Beta releases. This is especially the case for IE 8. It is not officially supported yet even in the current release. You are welcome to report any issues to us and we will try our best to address them. But IE 8 is still in Beta and many issues still needs to be fixed by MS. There isn’t much we can do on our side until the final release is out. The same policy applies on FireFox as well;

2. While we strive to support all popular browsers, there is no way for us to predict what a newer browser release will break until it is released; When things break, most of the time we will be able to find a workaround, or the problem is eventually fixed by the browser vendor. In any case, we can not guarantee a feature that works with the current version of a certain browser will continue to work with all of its future versions. Since it’s cost us enormous resource to keep our product updated, it is unrealistic for us to offer our customers updates forever. For this reason, we offer our customers a one year free upgrade only, after that a paid upgrade is required;

Since your order was placed in May 2007, you can get 2007.2 without any problem because it is released within one year of your purchase. 2008 was released right after that one year period (June, 2008), so officially you do not qualify, but since the release date was so close to your free update expiration date, we will see if we can get you 2008 as well.

We will reply again with additional information.

Thanks

Hi,

We have emailed you license information for EO.Web Controls 2008. You can download the current release from our download page and use that with the current version.

Thanks

Wow, great. Thanks so much for the upgrade to 2008. That was more than I expected.

I understand the issues with new browsers (beta) and compatibility, but that is why it would help to have a download link to the current update for past versions. I know that updates were done to 2007.1 since I last downloaded it and you guys have been good at making regular fixes to address issues these. My concern is with aging apps that are no longer in active development. It would be nice to just go to the download link for that version and just update the app in question.

Regarding new features/controls, I understand and support requiring new licenses. Because of the great support, I will be happy to re-invest in the new package to get the new controls next time I start a new asp.net project.

Many thanks for the great support,

Ray
