In one of our projects, we used Eo.Pdf v6.0.14.2. In that time we used Windows Server 2008 or older versions. But, when we upgraded to latest windows server, we needed to update to Eo.Pdf v16.1.54.0. We have purchased new license and it works fine in new windows version.

Now my question is, will the new license key work in older windows version, in which v6.0.14.2 worked? More generally, I need to know that, whether licenses are backward compatible or not.

Eargerly waiting for your reply.

Hi,

No. License keys are not compatible between different versions. In another word, each version uses a different license key and the license key version must match the DLL version.

Thanks!

Actually, I want to know that if one version of Eo.pdf is compatible in Windows 10, is it also compatible in windows 8.1?

Not necessarily. Usually as we move forward to newer versions of Windows, we may drop support to older Windows. So it's very possible at one point we will have a version that supports Windows 10 but will no longer support Windows 8/8.1.
