1. Installed eo web 2016 total 2. Added the objects to the visual studio 2008 toolbox by adding a tab and choosing the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Essential Objects\EO.Total 2016\EO.Web.dll 3. Added an aspx page 4. Added a grid to the page - the eo.web.dll and the eo.base.dll are added to the bin folder 5. When I change to design mode I get the error "Unable to change to external designer mode. Please check the eo.web.dll version in your bin folder is the same as the one installed."

Hi, Make sure you update your project reference, rebuild your project, and then restart Visual Studio. See here for more information on updating project reference: https://www.essentialobjects.com/doc/common/refdll.aspxThe most common reason that you get that error is when the version of DLL installed on your computer and the version of DLL your project uses are different. Thanks!

What happens if you just load our sample project and then switch to design view on any of the sample page?
Thanks!

Couldn't go into design view until I update the permissions on the C:\Program Files (x86)\Essential Objects to allow modify because it needed the dlls in the bin folder. see the images of the project and the explorer.

That is strange. Can you try to start Visual Studio as administrator and see if it works?

Hi,
We tested it here and it works fine. So I am not sure what else to tell you. If you are OK with it, you can share your desktop to us (such as through TeamViewer) so that we can take a look of it.
Thanks!
