Hi Support,

Do you have a list or table that shows which EO version runs on which Windows OS versions?

I think such a table would help your users decide when they need to upgrade.

We have a license for EO 2013, and want to know where it will run. Thanks.

Hi,

It's not as simple as Windows version. :)

It's always a good idea to stay up to date because everything else is constantly being updated. For example, the core of our EO.Pdf products is a built-in browser engine and browser engine updates very fast these days. So running EO.Pdf that is 6 years is similar to running a web browser that is 6 years old. Not only Web technologies have advanced so much that newer browser engine supports many features that didn't exist in the old browser engine, but also numerous security issues have been discovered and addressed during the years. So it's definitely not a good idea to keep using a version this old regardless what version of Windows you are running.

As to Windows versions, the basic rule is as the Chromium browser engine (the browser engine EO.Pdf currently uses) moves forward, it drops supporting for older OS which will cause us to stop supporting those OS. As a result, we stopped support Windows XP since 2016 release and stopped support Windows Vista since 2018 release. As to newer version of Windows, it's generally safe to assume that we will support it in the same release cycle as they come out. For example, Windows 10 was released in 2015 so our 2015 release added Windows 10 support. However that is not 100% certain either --- as Windows continuous to push update regularly, it can break our product and we will have to address those. So you may run into situations where EO.Pdf 2016 officially supports Windows 10 (as it is newer than 2015), but it may not work correctly on Windows 10 with a specific security update. In that case you will need to update to a newer build that resolves such issue.

Hope this gives you a better picture of things. Please feel free to let us know if you still have any more questions.

Thanks
