GRID - Selecting column index 1 and item index 0 Options

How do I select column index 1 and item index 0 in code behind. My issue is that whenever I refresh my grid with new bound data the cell highlighted is the last cell I selected. I want the upper most left column selected (column 1 and item(row) index 0
