Hi, My company bought EO.Web Controls 2007.2 some years ago. They are working OK, so we don't need to upgrade it. The problem is that we are using it now in an application writen for ASP.NET 4.5, and EO Controls are detecting it, incorrectly, as ASP.NET 1.1. I get the error message "This version of EO.Web.dll is built for ASP.NET 2.0. Please use the .NET 1.1 build to run on ASP.NET 1.1."
I've tried to download the last version of EO.Web Controls, but then, of course, the license information is not valid so I get trial messages everywere in the applications page.
So, my question is: What can I do? Is there any 2007.2 license compatible version that detects correctly the ASP.NET vesion so it would not send me this error message? Do I need to buy a new license? I hope not, because it is very hard to explain my boss that I need to buy a new version of a product not because we need new functionality, but because the product is failing... 8·)
Thank you in advance for your help, luis

Hi,
Unfortunately you would need to purchase a new license for this case. Your version is more than 6 years old so it does not support .NET 4 or .NET 4.5.
While it may appear to you that you don't need anything else come with the new version but in fact that is not the case. Browsers update very quickly these days and it is not uncommon that a new browser or a newer version of a supported browsers break a few things. This happens with every major version of IE. There have been IE 8, IE 9, IE 10, IE 11 and IE 12 after your version and every time they break something. Google Chrome browser didn't exist when your version was released and now it's at version 30. FireFox has made significant changes as well and they break things quite often. So we have to be constantly working to keep up with the browsers. This is not that the product is failing. This is simply because old version only supports old platform/environments and only newer version supports newer platform/environments.
Because of these reasons it's important to keep your version update to date. We offer one year free upgrade and also deep upgrade discount after that. However the older your version is, the less the upgrade discount. Your version is too old to qualify any upgrade discount (your version is version 5, the current version is version 11). As such you need to purchase a new license.
Hope this explains the situation. Please feel free to let us know if you still have any questions.
Thanks!
